Marine Terminals: Project Experience: Conventional Bouy Mooring
_ Project Experience: Conventional Buoy Mooring

The typical import and export terminals discussed above have all been SPM (Single Point Mooring) systems featuring monobuoys. In addition to these, INTEC has been responsible for several terminals for smaller tankers for which CBM (spread or multi point) systems were more suitable.

Two projects for which INTEC provided design engineering, procurement assistance, bid package preparation, QA/QC and construction management services were completed in El Salvador and Jamaica. The El Salvador terminal was for importing fuel to a new power station and included a seven-point spread mooring and two subsea pipelines of 18-inch and 12-inch diameter. The terminal was designed for a Coastal Corporation company and was for tankers of up to 60,000 dwt.

The Jamaica terminal was also for importing fuel oil for a power station and was for a Wärtsilä Group company. The five-point spread mooring was for 30,000 dwt vessels bringing in heavy fuel oil. In order to accommodate design requirements for the No. 6 fuel oil, a looped 14-inch subsea pipeline was installed incorporating heating and recirculation pumping facilities onshore to enable easier start-up, if required, on tanker arrival.
